THROUGH PRODUCT DESIGN

MAILBOOKS For good.

Using a product as a vehicle for good.

In a world overflowing with screens and tech gadgets, it’s easy to assume that reading is universally accessible. But for many disadvantaged people, books remain a vital gateway to literacy and learning. Mailbooks for Good was a product design and editorial initiative we created to address this gap. Too often, used books gather dust on shelves—while others go without. We partnered with international publisher Random House and the Australian charity The Footpath Library to launch a special collection of five titles by well-known authors, designed to be read, enjoyed, and mailed forward.

Having worked on all kinds of interactive ideas, we’re still struck by how such a simple physical solution managed to capture attention and earn praise from both product designers and industry experts. A decade later, in an editorial landscape reshaped by the digital era, it might seem almost naïve—but the design thinking and problem-solving at its core remain a testament to the enduring power of ingenuity.
